TEL AVIV – Web Desk: Israel has completed preparations to join the United States in any potential attack on Iran, according to Israeli media reports, even as Washington has postponed new strikes at the request of Gulf countries.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that Israel’s political and military leadership considers an agreement between the US and Iran unlikely, and therefore, if America launches renewed military action against Iran, Israeli forces will participate.
Israeli officials reportedly told local media that President Trump’s announcement postponing strikes has actually further limited their options. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a critical and sensitive security meeting last night that lasted approximately five hours without interruption.
The meeting was attended by the Israeli military’s Chief of Staff, the head of the Air Force, the head of military intelligence, officials from the Operations Directorate, and other senior defense officials. Israeli media claimed that possible operations against Iranian energy installations and strategic targets were also discussed.
The purpose of the meeting was to ensure complete readiness for Israeli participation in the event of potential US military action against Iran. It was decided to maintain continuous coordination between Israel and the United States regarding potential operations.
Previously, reports had emerged of consultations between Israeli military and US CENTCOM officials on possible military options. The US and Israel jointly conducted the first attack on Iran in late February, after which Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, halting petroleum product shipments worldwide.
