Jerusalem, Israel – Web Desk: Israeli forces have blocked access to Al-Aqsa Mosque for the 18th consecutive day, reportedly targeting worshippers attempting to enter for Laylat al-Qadr prayers. Several individuals were detained during the incidents.
According to Arab media reports, Muslims unable to access the mosque in occupied Jerusalem have prayed in nearby streets and open areas. The restrictions come after the recent US-Israel conflict against Iran, which has heightened tensions in the region.
The Palestinian Authority stated that Israel has effectively turned the area into a military zone, deploying hundreds of soldiers and police officers. Daily prayers and Ramadan worship have been forced outdoors, despite normally hosting thousands of worshippers during the holy month.
Reports indicate that Israeli forces have extended the Al-Aqsa closure until the end of Eid al-Fitr and imposed restrictions preventing more than 25 staff from the Islamic Waqf from entering the mosque at a time.
The situation underscores rising tensions in Jerusalem and the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinians in exercising religious freedoms during Ramadan.
