Beirut, Lebanon – Web Desk: At least 16 people have been killed and several others injured in Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh region, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency, despite a reported ceasefire framework linked to ongoing regional diplomatic efforts.
The strikes, carried out early Friday, targeted multiple towns and villages including Al-Baydar in the Kfar Jouz area, as well as surrounding districts in Nabatieh. Lebanese authorities said Israeli warplanes intensified bombardments across Kfar Tebnit, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, and the hills of Rayhan.
In one of the deadliest incidents, eight people were killed in an airstrike on the Al-Baydar neighborhood in Kfar Jouz. Another strike between Al-Sharqiya and Doueir reportedly destroyed a residential house, killing four people. Three more fatalities were reported in Kfar Sir.
Separately, a drone strike hit a motorcycle near the Doueir municipal building, killing one person and injuring another, according to local reports.
The latest escalation comes amid heightened regional tensions, with Lebanese authorities accusing Israel of continuing strikes despite diplomatic efforts aimed at stabilizing the border situation.
