Islamabad tight security ahead of US-Iran talks

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Authorities in Pakistan’s capital have imposed extraordinary security measures ahead of a possible second round of US-Iran negotiations, with major roads leading to the Red Zone completely sealed.

Police, Rangers, Frontier Corps, and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with strict checking at multiple checkpoints. Entry routes toward the high-security Red Zone have been blocked as part of precautionary measures.

According to traffic police, the Islamabad Expressway between Korral and Zero Point has been closed to all traffic. Srinagar Highway may also face intermittent closures depending on the security situation.

Heavy, commercial, and public transport vehicles have been barred from entering both cities. Residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, and F-6, F-7 have been advised to use alternative routes via Margalla Road and Ninth Avenue for travel between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Authorities further stated that Park Road and Club Road may also face diversions toward Taramri Chowk if needed, although parts of the Blue Area business district remain open.

The Metro Bus Service in the twin cities has been completely suspended, while several educational institutions have shifted classes online for the coming week.

Officials say the enhanced security arrangements are temporary and are aimed at ensuring safety during high-level diplomatic developments.
