ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated on Friday that India has once again distorted facts and misrepresented former US President Donald Trump’s statement.
In a statement from the federal capital, the spokesperson said that the United States’ position on Trump’s remarks had already been clarified, adding that Pakistan’s last nuclear test took place in May 1998. The spokesperson reaffirmed that Pakistan’s stance on nuclear testing remains clear, consistent, and based on responsibility.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan has always supported United Nations resolutions calling for a comprehensive ban on nuclear testing. It added that India’s continued absence from these resolutions reflects its questionable approach towards non-proliferation efforts. The statement underscored that Pakistan’s nuclear programme operates under a strong and secure command and control system.
Responding to Indian claims regarding alleged “illegal nuclear activities” in Pakistan, the spokesperson said such assertions are baseless and misleading. The statement pointed out that several incidents involving theft and illegal sale of nuclear material have been reported from India, raising serious safety and security concerns.
The Foreign Office further said that concerns persist over India’s record on nuclear safety. It added that multiple cases of radioactive material smuggling have been reported from India in recent years. The statement urged the international community to take notice of India’s unsafe handling of nuclear materials and the potential risks it poses to regional and global security.
