Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan is hosting the 9th Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad on July 12–13, bringing together ministers, senior officials, international organizations and development partners from OIC member states to discuss strategies for advancing women’s empowerment across the Muslim world.
Held under the theme “Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in the OIC Countries: Challenges and Way Forward,” the two-day conference will focus on strengthening cooperation, reviewing progress, sharing best practices and identifying practical measures to enhance women’s participation in economic, social and political spheres.
Delegations arriving in Islamabad were welcomed at Islamabad International Airport by Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights Saba Sadiq, Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice Farah Naz Akbar, along with senior officials from the Ministries of Human Rights and Foreign Affairs.
During the conference, Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar will assume the chairmanship of the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, representing Pakistan. As chair, Pakistan will lead discussions, promote dialogue among member states and support collective initiatives aimed at strengthening the rights, dignity and socio-economic empowerment of women across OIC countries.
The Government of Pakistan has welcomed all participating delegations and expressed hope that the conference will further strengthen regional cooperation and deliver meaningful outcomes for women’s development across the Islamic world.
