Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: An explosion heard in the eastern part of Tehran province on Saturday was caused by the controlled disposal of ammunition remaining from the recent war, Iranian state media confirmed, citing a local official .
Operation Posed No Threat
The official said the operation posed no threat to citizens and that no incident had occurred . Residents of Pakdasht and Qiyamdasht had reported hearing the blast earlier, while its source and exact location were not immediately known .
War Remnants Disposal
According to the Public Relations Department of the Imam Sajjad (AS) Corps of Tehran Province, the controlled operation was carried out by specialized teams to inspect, neutralize, and destroy unexploded ordnance remaining from the American-Israeli aggression in the Pakdasht-Varamin area . The operation was expected to continue until approximately 3 PM, with authorities urging citizens to remain calm and avoid paying attention to rumors .
The Pakdasht mayor told Fars News Agency that the explosions resulted from scheduled operations to neutralize unexploded munitions recovered after recent fighting, with the situation fully under control and no immediate danger to the public .
Post-Conflict Clearance Continues
Many of the explosives being removed include missiles and drones that failed to detonate during active hostilities, according to Iranian officials . Such disposal operations have become a recurring part of post-conflict security efforts following the 40-day war that began in late February with large-scale US and Israeli strikes on Iran .
Iranian security agencies remain engaged in identifying, recovering, and safely disposing of unexploded military ordnance scattered across affected areas to reduce risks to civilians .
