Iran’s New Consul General Meets Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah

KARACHI (Staff Reporter) — Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah met with Iran’s newly appointed Consul General, Akbar Issazadeh, in Karachi. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran, with detailed discussions on trade, tourism, and cultural cooperation.
Welcoming the new Consul General to Sindh, the Chief Minister congratulated him on his appointment and remarked, “Iran is our Muslim brother country with which we share historic and strong ties.” In response, Consul General Issazadeh expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and offered condolences on the passing of Agha Siraj Durrani, to which the Chief Minister replied, “Your condolences will be conveyed to the late Agha Siraj Durrani’s family.”
During the meeting, the Iranian diplomat expressed sorrow over the recent flood damages in Sindh. Both sides agreed to enhance economic, commercial, and tourism-related activities. The Chief Minister assured full cooperation from the Government of Sindh and Iran’s government in all mutual efforts.
Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed hope that bilateral relations would further strengthen during Akbar Issazadeh’s tenure. The two leaders agreed to increase trade between Karachi and Tehran from PKR 5 billion to PKR 10 billion, organize joint trade exhibitions, and promote cultural ties through media collaboration.
They also discussed joint initiatives in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries, with the Chief Minister announcing that relevant provincial ministers would soon meet with the Consul General to explore cooperation in these sectors.
An agreement was also reached to initiate direct flights between Karachi and Tehran. “Direct flights will make travel easier for our pilgrims,” said the Chief Minister, adding that private airlines would be approached to facilitate this initiative.
Highlighting the significance of Iran’s late President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Sindh, Murad Ali Shah called it an honor and a moment of historical importance. The Consul General extended an invitation on behalf of the Iranian ambassador for the Chief Minister to visit Iran, which Syed Murad Ali Shah accepted, stating, “I will visit Iran soon.”
