Iranian Defence Ministry spokesperson Reza Nik says domestic defence production doubled between July 2025 and July 2026 despite attacks during a 12-day war.
WEB DESK: Iran’s domestic defence production doubled over the past year, according to Iranian Defence Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Reza Nik, who said local military manufacturing continued throughout the country’s recent conflict.
Nik said Iran continued producing domestically manufactured defence systems during the war while also deploying those systems on the battlefield.
Defence production doubled, Iran says
According to the Iranian Defence Ministry spokesperson, annual production in Iran’s defence industry doubled between July 2025 and July 2026 compared with the previous year.
Nik attributed the increase to the continued operation of Iran’s domestic defence industry despite wartime pressures.
He said locally manufactured defence systems were being used while production of additional equipment continued.
Production continued during 12-day war
Nik acknowledged that some facilities linked to Iran’s defence industry were subjected to limited attacks during the 12-day war.
Despite the reported attacks, he said domestic production was not halted.
The comments underline Tehran’s emphasis on maintaining domestic manufacturing capacity during periods of military pressure.
Iran highlights self-reliance
Iran has for years sought to expand domestic production of military equipment as part of its strategy to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.
The country’s defence industry produces a range of military systems, while Iranian authorities regularly highlight advances in domestic weapons manufacturing and defence technology.
Nik’s latest comments suggest Tehran views continued production as an important component of its military resilience.
