Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has warned the United States and Israel of severe consequences if its Bushehr nuclear plant is targeted, emphasizing that any resulting radiation would affect not just Tehran but Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) capitals as well.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi accused Western countries of double standards, noting their strong condemnation of attacks near Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant while remaining largely silent on alleged threats to Iran’s nuclear facilities.
In a social media statement, Araqchi highlighted multiple instances in which Israel and the United States allegedly targeted the Bushehr plant, asserting that the international community failed to respond with the same urgency shown over Ukraine.
He further warned that any attack on Iran’s nuclear or petrochemical installations would have catastrophic regional consequences and underscored that these strikes reveal the true intentions of Iran’s opponents.
Zaporizhzhia, Europe’s largest nuclear plant, has been at the center of global concern throughout the Russia-Ukraine conflict due to military clashes in its vicinity. Araqchi’s remarks come amid rising tensions in the Gulf and ongoing disputes over Iran’s nuclear program.
