TEHRAN – Web Desk: Following a US military strike on Iran’s Qeshm Island, Iran has launched retaliatory attacks targeting American interests and military installations in the region, with air raid sirens reported in Bahrain, Iraq, and Qatar.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that US forces targeted an Iranian military installation on Qeshm Island in response to previous Iranian missile and drone attacks. According to CENTCOM, allied defense systems destroyed multiple Iranian missiles and drones mid-flight, while some ballistic missiles failed to reach their targets. Two missiles fired toward Kuwait fell mid-course, while three missiles heading toward Bahrain were intercepted by US and Bahraini forces.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced immediate retaliation, claiming missile and drone strikes on US military bases after targeting communication infrastructure on Qeshm. Iranian media reported that the retaliation targeted the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, along with air installations and helicopter centers. The IRGC stated that responding to US attacks was inevitable and that any aggression in the region will be met with a full response.
According to Arab media, security alerts have been issued in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq, with sirens sounding in various areas of Bahrain. Iranian media also claimed that after an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz was targeted, the IRGC struck a naval vessel.
