Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has said that the signing date for the proposed “Islamabad Memorandum” aimed at ending hostilities between Tehran and Washington has not yet been finalized, despite reports suggesting an agreement could be signed within days.
According to Iran’s state news agency, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said the Pakistan-mediated Islamabad Memorandum is primarily focused on formally ending the conflict and establishing a framework for lasting stability between the United States and Iran.
Baghaei stated that the final timing for the signing ceremony has not yet been determined and that an official announcement should be awaited. He clarified that the document will not be signed tomorrow, although there remains a possibility that the agreement could be finalized within the coming days.
The Iranian spokesperson added that one of the main challenges remains what Tehran views as contradictory statements and inconsistent policies from the opposing side. He stressed that any developments related to the peace process should therefore be approached with caution.
His comments came amid claims by mediators and U.S. officials that the Islamabad Memorandum could be signed within the next 24 hours, with reports suggesting that Geneva may host the signing ceremony.
Earlier this week, U.S. President Donald Trump said a memorandum of understanding with Iran could be signed in Europe before the end of the week and that Vice President JD Vance would represent Washington at the event.
Following Trump’s remarks, Switzerland reportedly offered to host the signing ceremony between the United States and Iran. However, neither side has officially confirmed the venue.
As of now, no final announcement has been made regarding the exact time or location of the signing ceremony for the U.S.-Iran Islamabad Memorandum.
