Iran Says Strait of Hormuz Will Not Open Under US Pressure

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened under pressure from the United States, emphasizing that the strategic waterway remains under Iran’s full and firm control.

In an official statement, the IRGC described the Strait of Hormuz as a critical strategic passage, adding that any decisions regarding its status will be made strictly in line with Iran’s national interests, not external demands.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions following US President Donald Trump’s recent claim that Iran had requested a ceasefire. Trump indicated that Washington would consider such a proposal only if the Strait of Hormuz was reopened and secured.

Iranian officials, however, continue to reject external pressure, underscoring the geopolitical importance of the Strait, a key artery for global oil shipments and maritime trade. Analysts warn that prolonged restrictions could further disrupt energy markets and escalate regional instability.
