Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti pledged closer federal-provincial coordination to restore lasting peace, as security operations continue against terrorism in the province.
Quetta, Pakistan – Web Desk: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday affirmed that the federal government would continue extending every possible support to ensure sustainable peace in Balochistan, describing a coordinated operational approach as essential in the fight against terrorism.
Naqvi made the remarks while co-chairing a high-level meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta, called to review the province’s law and order situation. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security and restoring lasting peace across the province.
The meeting took place as security operations continue against foreign-backed proxies amid a marked rise in terrorist attacks in Balochistan. A recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) identified Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as the epicentres of violence during the second quarter of 2026, together accounting for nearly 96 percent of all violence-related fatalities nationwide, with 265 deaths recorded in Balochistan alone.
During the session, CM Bugti briefed participants on the province’s overall security environment, ongoing counterterrorism measures, and the government’s forward strategy for maintaining stability. The meeting resulted in a decision to further strengthen the professional capacity of the Balochistan Counter Terrorism Force and the provincial police, while accelerating previously approved measures to reinforce the police force. The interior ministry assured the provincial government of full cooperation in providing resources needed to upgrade Balochistan’s security infrastructure.
Naqvi stressed that immediate and effective implementation of the province’s peace restoration master plan was the need of the hour, and said the government’s strategy should draw on the experience of former Balochistan police chiefs. He added that modern technology, stronger intelligence capabilities, and coordinated operations were indispensable tools in countering terrorism, and said federal and provincial authorities were moving forward with complete unity toward lasting peace.
CM Bugti, for his part, reaffirmed the provincial government’s resolve to stay ahead of terrorist elements on every front, stating that no pressure would deter the state’s campaign against terrorism and that its writ would be enforced at all costs, leaving no space for terrorists in Balochistan. He also underlined the importance of creating opportunities for young people through education, skills development and employment, calling merit-based advancement essential to restoring youth confidence in the system.
Bugti concluded by linking peace, development and prosperity as interconnected priorities, pledging that the provincial government would continue advancing both security and development simultaneously, with continued federal support expected to accelerate the pace of ongoing peace and development initiatives across the province.
