Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Tehran is ready to keep the path of diplomacy open with the United States, but Washington must change its “threatening tone and behavior.”
Araghchi held telephone contacts with his counterparts from key regional countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq, and Azerbaijan. During these calls, he briefed them on Iran’s efforts to de-escalate tensions with the United States and Israel.
“Iran wants to continue the negotiation and diplomatic process, but it is necessary for the United States to soften its policies and abandon the politics of threats,” Araghchi said.
Pakistan as official mediator
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Pakistan holds the status of an “official mediator” in potential talks with the United States. According to the ministry, if a final decision is made to hold negotiations, an official announcement will be made.
Trump cites slow progress
On the other side, US President Donald Trump has said that Iran is presenting conditions he cannot agree to, which has caused progress in talks to remain slow.
The statements come as a fragile ceasefire holds between the US-Israel alliance and Iran, with tensions still high over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program.
Neither the White House nor the Pakistani Foreign Office has officially commented on Iran’s mediation claim. Pakistan has previously played facilitator roles in regional diplomacy, including in US-Taliban talks.
