Iran Offers Uranium Enrichment Cut in US Nuclear Draft

Date:

Tehran/Geneva – Web Desk: Iran has presented the United States with a proposed draft of a nuclear agreement that includes a significant reduction in uranium enrichment levels, according to an Arab diplomat familiar with the discussions.

The proposal suggests lowering uranium enrichment from 60% to 3.6%, a level consistent with civilian energy use, and includes an offer to suspend enrichment activities for up to seven years in the future. The development is seen as part of ongoing diplomatic contacts between Iran and the United States aimed at reviving a framework similar to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that Washington is not currently demanding zero enrichment from Tehran but is instead seeking the transfer of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile abroad. Iran has rejected sending its enriched uranium overseas and has proposed diluting it to lower levels inside the country.

According to the same reports, the United States is pressing for a suspension of Iran’s nuclear program for up to 10 years — a condition that Iran’s current proposal may not fully meet.

The report also noted that concerns over potential U.S. military action against Iran have resurfaced in recent weeks amid stalled negotiations and heightened regional tensions.

Neither Tehran nor Washington has officially commented on the reported draft proposal. However, diplomatic efforts appear to be ongoing as both sides explore options to ease tensions and prevent further escalation over Iran’s nuclear activities.
