Iran Military Warns of Response After US Ship Incident

Date:

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Iran’s joint military command has warned of a swift response following the reported seizure of an Iranian vessel by the United States, escalating already heightened tensions in the Gulf region.

The statement from Iran’s joint military leadership said the United States had opened fire on a commercial ship allegedly traveling from China to Iran, calling the action a violation of a ceasefire framework and international maritime law.

The command further stated that Iran will respond to what it described as “maritime aggression and armed piracy” by US forces, signaling possible retaliatory measures in the coming days.

It also claimed that Iranian forces carried out drone strikes targeting several US naval vessels following the incident, though these claims have not been independently verified.

The developments come after the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the interception and seizure of an Iranian vessel, stating it had been taken into US custody for allegedly violating maritime restrictions.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said on social media that American forces had acted against an Iranian ship accused of breaching a blockade, adding that the vessel was intercepted near the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest exchange of claims and counterclaims underscores rapidly escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington, raising concerns over maritime security, energy supply routes, and the risk of broader regional confrontation.
