Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has warned that it may withdraw from the US-mediated ceasefire if Israel continues its attacks on Lebanon, Iranian semi-official media reported. In response, Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, halting oil traffic.
According to Tasnim News Agency, a senior Iranian official stated that Israel’s ongoing strikes in Lebanon would be considered violations of the ceasefire. The official said Iran is reviewing Israeli actions and may abandon the agreement if the attacks persist.
The ceasefire, brokered with the United States, was intended to halt hostilities across all fronts in Lebanon, including Hezbollah positions. However, Israeli forces reportedly targeted over 100 sites in Beirut, the Beqaa Valley, and southern Lebanon within just 10 minutes on the first day of the ceasefire.
Fars News Agency reported that in response to Israeli violations, Iran stopped the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier today, two tankers had been allowed to pass following the ceasefire announcement, but the flow was immediately suspended once the Israeli attacks began.
The development raises concerns over regional energy security and escalating tensions in the Middle East.
