Tehran, Iran — Web Desk: Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy has commenced large-scale naval exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, dubbed “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz”, amid rising regional tensions. The exercises, reported by Iranian media, are taking place in a strategically vital waterway linking the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
The drills are overseen by Revolutionary Guards commander Mohammad Pakpour, and aim to assess the operational readiness of naval units, test rapid-response capabilities, and evaluate effectiveness against potential military threats. Officials said the exercises also include demonstrations of Iran’s defensive strategies, reflecting the country’s geopolitical priorities in the region.
Analysts note that the drills coincide with reports that the United States is deploying an additional aircraft carrier to the Middle East, raising the prospect of heightened tensions. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical passage for global oil shipments, and any military activity there is closely monitored by international markets.
Iranian media emphasized that the exercises highlight Tehran’s ability to safeguard its strategic interests and ensure maritime security, demonstrating both operational preparedness and deterrence capabilities in key maritime zones.
