Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran’s judiciary has denied US President Donald Trump’s claim that Tehran had released an American female prisoner held since December 2024, stating that no US prisoner has been freed or exchanged in any deal .
Judiciary Refutes Trump’s Statement
The Mizan news agency of the judiciary, citing an unnamed source, reported that investigations showed no American convicted prisoner matching Trump’s description had been released from Iranian prisons . The report also pointed to Trump’s track record of making unsubstantiated claims, saying he had previously been “deceived by his lying sources” .
Conflicting Claims
Trump had earlier posted on Truth Social that Iran had allowed an American citizen, later identified as Dena Karari, to leave the country after being detained in 2024. “She is now safely outside of Iran, and in good condition. The United States of America appreciates this gesture of Goodwill by Iran!” Trump said . Karari’s lawyer Jared Genser confirmed she is safe and traveling back to the United States .
The conflicting accounts come amid renewed military clashes between the two countries, despite a peace memorandum signed in mid-June under which both sides were expected to begin negotiations toward a final agreement within 60 days .
