Islamabad – Web Desk: A deeply emotional moment unfolded as an Iranian delegation arrived in Islamabad carrying powerful symbols of a recent tragedy that has shaken the region.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf shared a poignant image from inside the aircraft, drawing global attention to the “Monab tragedy.” In the picture, seats inside the plane were filled with photographs of children killed in an attack, accompanied by their school bags and shoes, many of them visibly blood-stained.
Posting on the social platform X, Ghalibaf wrote, “These are my companions on this journey,” highlighting the emotional weight carried by the delegation.
The special flight, named “Monab 168,” arrived in Islamabad as part of Iran’s participation in high-level negotiations. The name refers to the victims of a February 28 attack on a school in Monab, where at least 168 people—mostly children—lost their lives in one of the deadliest incidents of the conflict.
The Iranian delegation, which also includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, brought these images and belongings as a tribute to the victims and as a message to the international community about the human cost of the conflict.
Officials say the gesture is intended to underscore the urgency of peace efforts as Iran engages in critical talks with the United States in Islamabad. The US delegation, sent under President Donald Trump, includes Vice President J. D. Vance and senior officials.
The arrival of the “Monab 168” flight has turned into a powerful symbol of grief and a stark reminder of the humanitarian toll of ongoing tensions, as diplomatic efforts continue amid a fragile ceasefire.
