Global reports warn sensitive posts held by Indian-origin individuals may pose serious security risks
Washington, USA – Web Desk: International security agencies have flagged Indian-origin nationals holding sensitive positions abroad as a potential security threat. Reports reveal that India is allegedly leveraging its citizens overseas to access classified information.
Recently, Madhu Gotumkla, interim head at the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), reportedly uploaded “For Official Use Only” documents to an AI application, triggering a security alert at the Department of Homeland Security. Gotumkla hails from Andhra Pradesh, India, and served during the Trump administration.
This is not an isolated case. In October 2025, Indian-American strategist Ashley J. Tellis was arrested with over 1,000 classified U.S. defense documents. In 2023, eight former Indian Navy officers were detained in Qatar for espionage. Defense experts warn that Indian-origin personnel with access to sensitive data in Western and Gulf countries pose ongoing national security concerns.
Experts advise Western and Gulf nations to reassess the backgrounds, connections, and potential conflicts of interest of individuals in critical positions to prevent security breaches.
