Plainfield, Illinois, United States – Web Desk: A street in Plainfield, Illinois, has been named in honor of Wadie Al-Fayoume, the six-year-old Palestinian American boy who was killed in a fatal stabbing in October 2023 in what prosecutors described as a hate-motivated attack.
The street, now officially named “Wadie Al-Fayoume Little Palestine Way,” was dedicated during a ceremony attended by local officials, community leaders, and the child’s family. Organizers said the tribute aims to preserve Wadie’s memory while sending a strong message against hate, discrimination, and violence.
Wadie Al-Fayoume was killed on October 14, 2023, when he and his mother were attacked inside their rented home by their landlord, Joseph Czuba, in Plainfield, Illinois. Prosecutors said the attack was driven by anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian hatred linked to the Israel-Gaza conflict.
Wadie’s mother sustained serious injuries but survived the attack. Earlier this year, a court convicted Joseph Czuba on multiple charges, including first-degree murder and hate crime offenses, sentencing him to 53 years in prison.
Community leaders said renaming the street is intended not only to honor the young victim but also to reaffirm that hatred based on religion, ethnicity, or nationality has no place in society.
