IHC rejects plea for transfer of Mahrang Baloch’s case to another bench

Date:

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar on Tuesday rejected the request for the transfer of the case of the removal of Baloch nationalist Dr. Mahrang Baloch’s name from the ECL to another bench.

The assistant lawyer, on this occasion, referred to the altercation that had taken place between the CJ and Advocate Imaan Mazari at the last hearing, as well as the complaint lodged by the latter against him.

She requested the CJ to transfer the case to another bench.

Justice Dogar, however, inquired about the events of the last hearing and the basis on which the complaint had been lodged. “Imaan should have appeared in the court,” he said, adding, “The question is why the lawyer did not turn up in the court today. No cogent reason has been given for her absence.” Later, the court adjourned the case’s hearing.
