Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Web Desk: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved a series of significant changes to cricket’s playing conditions and governance matters during a board meeting held in India.
Among the key decisions, the ICC approved the use of the pink ball in Test matches by mutual agreement between participating teams. The move is expected to provide greater flexibility for hosting day-night Test cricket.
The board also authorized umpires to access Hawk-Eye data while reviewing suspected illegal bowling actions, a step aimed at strengthening the assessment process and improving decision-making standards.
In another major development, the ICC decided to permanently adopt the experimental leg-side wide rule after reviewing its implementation during trial phases.
The governing body also rescheduled the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027, moving the tournament from its previously proposed June-July window to February 14-28, 2027.
On governance matters, the ICC suspended Cricket Canada’s membership over administrative irregularities. However, Canadian national teams will remain eligible to participate in ICC events during the suspension period.
The board further expressed concerns over the rapid expansion of franchise cricket around the world and its potential impact on the international cricket calendar.
Additionally, two ICC board representatives will visit Bangladesh to engage with stakeholders and assess developments in the country, including matters related to the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s electoral process.
