Gunfire Disrupts White House Dinner, Trump Moved to Safety

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: Gunfire disrupted the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, triggering a major security response that led to the immediate evacuation of U.S. President Donald Trump and senior officials to a secure location.

According to international media reports, the incident occurred during the high-profile event attended by journalists, government officials, and dignitaries. Witnesses reported hearing multiple loud bangs resembling gunshots, prompting security personnel to swiftly move guests to safety.

Security forces, including a counter-assault unit, quickly secured the venue, taking positions on and around the stage while directing attendees to remain low. Several guests reportedly took cover under tables, while others were escorted out of the hall.

Among those evacuated were the First Lady, Vice President JD Vance, and senior cabinet members, including Pete Hegseth and Kash Patel. Eyewitnesses said they heard approximately five shots during the incident.

Sources indicated that a suspect had been taken into custody, although no official confirmation was immediately released. Some foreign media reports suggested that a suspected attacker may have been shot, but details remain unverified.

The area around the venue was placed under heavy security lockdown, with armed personnel surrounding the building and helicopters seen hovering overhead. Thousands of attendees were temporarily held inside under lockdown conditions as authorities worked to secure the situation.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, President Trump said the suspect had been detained and confirmed that all key officials, including the First Lady and cabinet members, were safe. He added that law enforcement had advised an immediate evacuation, which was carried out in line with protocol.

Trump also announced that he would address the media within 30 minutes from the White House press briefing room. He further stated that the annual event would be rescheduled within the next 30 days.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and further details are expected as the situation develops.
