Gul Plaza Tragedy: Two Survivors Testify Before Commission

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Two more survivors of the Gul Plaza Tragedy have recorded their statements before the judicial commission formed to investigate the incident, according to official sources.

Sources said additional citizens also appeared before the commission following its meeting on Tuesday and submitted their testimonies as part of the ongoing inquiry into the deadly building incident.

The commission has summoned Additional Controller Civil Defence Fatima Memon to appear on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Director Civil Defence Abdul Hameed Jagirani has already informed the commission about assuming charge of his office.

According to sources familiar with the proceedings, the statement of the Additional Controller Civil Defence will be recorded at the Secretariat.

Separately, the Chief Fire Officer has submitted a written response regarding a letter related to the cross-examination of a journalist’s statement. Commission sources said a decision on scheduling a hearing for cross-examination will be made after reviewing the response.

The judicial commission continues to examine testimonies and official records as part of efforts to determine responsibility and assess safety oversight linked to the Gul Plaza incident.
