Brent and WTI crude edged lower as continued tanker traffic and alternative shipping routes eased concerns over immediate supply disruptions.
LONDON, United Kingdom — WEB DESK: Global crude oil prices continued to decline during the latest trading session despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the continuing standoff between the United States and Iran.
Market analysts said concerns over potential supply disruptions eased after oil tankers continued transiting key maritime routes, while alternative shipping channels helped maintain the flow of crude to international markets.
Brent and WTI Edge Lower
According to market data, Brent crude fell 1.42% to $89.45 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined 0.66% to $83.90 per barrel.
Analysts said the continued movement of oil tankers through regional sea lanes reduced fears of an immediate supply shock, putting downward pressure on prices.
Shipping Routes Ease Market Concerns
Despite heightened military tensions across the Middle East and uncertainty surrounding US-Iran relations, traders appeared reassured that global oil supplies remain largely uninterrupted.
The use of alternative shipping routes has also helped reduce the risk of significant disruptions to international energy markets, contributing to the latest price decline.
Previous Session Saw Sharp Gains
The latest decline follows a sharp rally in the previous trading session, when escalating tensions involving Iran pushed oil prices significantly higher.
Brent crude rose by nearly 8%, while WTI gained more than 6.5%, marking one of the strongest single-session increases in recent months.
However, with investor concerns easing somewhat in the latest session, oil prices retreated from those highs.
