FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing growing scrutiny after a human rights organization announced plans to file a formal complaint with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) over his alleged public support for U.S. President Donald Trump.
Zurich, Switzerland – Web Desk: According to international media reports, rights group FairSquare argues that Infantino may have violated FIFA’s code of ethics by compromising the organization’s principle of political neutrality through repeated public displays of support for Trump.
The organization said it had previously submitted a complaint to FIFA’s Ethics Committee in December 2025 and is now seeking further action through the IOC.
The complaint also calls for an investigation into the creation of FIFA’s “Peace Prize” and the decision to award it to Donald Trump. FairSquare has requested that investigators determine whether the decision was approved by the FIFA Council or made solely by Infantino.
FIFA has confirmed that its Ethics Committee may conduct a preliminary review of the complaint but stressed that the filing of a complaint does not automatically lead to formal disciplinary proceedings.
Meanwhile, 50 members of the European Parliament and the Norwegian Football Federation have also voiced support for an independent investigation into the matter.
The controversy has renewed debate over governance, transparency, and political neutrality within world football’s governing body.
