Winston-Salem, United States – Web Desk: A venomous snake was spotted inside the Germany national football team’s training camp in the United States ahead of the FIFA World Cup, raising safety concerns among players and staff.
German captain Joshua Kimmich confirmed that the team was informed about the presence of a venomous snake at their training facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and advised to take precautionary measures.
Speaking to media, Kimmich said the squad was warned that the snake could be dangerous and that immediate medical attention would be required in the event of a bite. He added that while such incidents are unlikely to be fatal, they still pose a serious risk.
According to German media reports, the snake is believed to be a copperhead, a venomous species commonly found in the region, known to require urgent treatment after envenomation.
The German Football Association said training routines have not been disrupted, but players have been instructed to remain vigilant. Meanwhile, reports from Austria suggest that another national team has restricted outdoor cycling activities at its camp due to similar wildlife concerns.
The incident has added an unusual safety dimension to World Cup preparations in the United States.
