Four Peshawar High Court Judges Take Oath as Permanent Judges

PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Four judges of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) were sworn in as permanent judges on Monday, formally assuming their confirmed positions on the provincial high court bench.

Peshawar High Court Chief Justice S.M. Attique Shah administered the oath at a ceremony held at the high court in Peshawar.

The four judges who took the oath were Justice Farah Jamshed, Justice Sabitullah, Justice Inam Khan and Justice Aurangzeb Khan.

Following the ceremony, all four formally assumed office as permanent judges of the Peshawar High Court.

Senior judges and lawyers attend ceremony

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by judges of the high court, judicial officers and a large number of lawyers.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General Shah Faisal Utmankhel and Additional Attorney General Sanaullah were also present.

Representatives of the legal community attended the event, including Peshawar High Court Bar Association President Aminur Rehman Yousafzai, members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and senior lawyers.

The gathering brought together members of both the bench and bar as the four judges formally transitioned to permanent status.

Judges formally confirmed on PHC bench

The oath-taking completes the process through which the four judges move from their previous status to confirmed appointments as permanent members of the Peshawar High Court bench.

High court judges in Pakistan initially appointed on an additional basis may subsequently be confirmed as permanent judges through the constitutional appointment process.

The confirmation of judges is significant for the functioning of the court, which handles constitutional, civil and criminal matters arising primarily from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Peshawar High Court also exercises constitutional jurisdiction and hears appeals and petitions from across the province.

Monday’s ceremony formally completed the confirmation of Justices Farah Jamshed, Sabitullah, Inam Khan and Aurangzeb Khan, allowing them to continue their judicial responsibilities as permanent members of the PHC.
