Lahore’s revived Basant festival attracts foreign tourists, showcasing culture and kite-flying excitement
Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: After the revival of Basant, foreign tourists have joined locals in celebrating this iconic festival across Lahore. Tourists gathered on rooftops, hotels, and cultural landmarks, including Shahi Qila, Badshahi Mosque, Gulberg, and Defence areas, to witness kite-flying competitions and cultural festivities.
David, a foreign visitor at Cathedral Church Lahore, said, “It’s my first time celebrating Basant in Pakistan, and it’s colorful, peaceful, and reflects Lahore’s cultural heritage.” Maria praised the traditional food, music, and community spirit, noting that the festival provides a unique opportunity to experience local culture.
Tourists highlighted the warmth, hospitality, and safety measures in place, emphasizing how Basant can positively promote Pakistan’s cultural image internationally. Visitors also enjoyed the festivities at historic Punch House, exploring the Bhagat Singh gallery while flying kites.
