NORTH WAZIRISTAN, Pakistan — WEB DESK: Pakistan’s security forces killed five suspected militants during an intelligence-based operation in Razmak, North Waziristan, while a Pakistan Army officer was killed in the exchange of fire, according to the military’s media wing.
In a statement issued on 1 August 2026, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was launched after receiving intelligence about the presence of militants it described as belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij, which the military said is backed by India.
Intelligence-Based Operation
According to ISPR, security forces conducted the operation in the Razmak area and engaged the suspected militants, killing five during the exchange.
The military said weapons and ammunition were recovered from those killed.
ISPR alleged that the militants had been involved in multiple attacks against security forces and law enforcement personnel, as well as the killing of civilians. These claims could not be independently verified.
Army Officer Martyred
The military said Major Hafiz Ehsan Elahi was killed while leading troops during the firefight.
ISPR paid tribute to the officer, saying he embraced martyrdom while fighting the militants during the operation.
Clearance Operation Continues
According to the military, a clearance operation is continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants.
ISPR said Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to counterterrorism operations under the National Action Plan and the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy.
