Fakhar Zaman Becomes First Pakistani to Hit 100 Sixes in T20 Internationals
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s left-handed batter Fakhar Zaman has become the first Pakistani player to hit 100 sixes in Twenty20 International cricket, achieving the milestone during the third and final T20I against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old entered the match with 99 sixes in his T20I career and reached the landmark with a powerful shot over deep midwicket off Sri Lankan left-arm fast bowler Binura Fernando.
Fakhar achieved the record in his 113th T20I innings, adding another milestone to his international cricket career.
Fakhar Zaman Leads Pakistan’s T20I Six-Hitting Chart
Fakhar’s achievement places him at the top of Pakistan’s list of batters with the most sixes in men’s T20 Internationals.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is second on the list with 95 sixes, followed by Sahibzada Farhan with 81 and former captain Babar Azam with 80. Former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez completes the top five with 76 sixes.
Fakhar’s record highlights his ability to clear the boundary and attack bowlers in the shortest international format.
Milestone Comes During Final T20I Against Sri Lanka
Despite reaching the landmark, Fakhar could not convert his innings into a substantial score. He was dismissed for 12 runs off seven deliveries shortly after completing his 100th six.
Pakistan struggled to build momentum after his dismissal, losing several wickets during the innings.
Captain Sahibzada Farhan and Arafat Minhas helped the hosts recover, with Pakistan posting 168 for eight in their allotted 20 overs.
Sri Lanka then chased down the target comfortably, winning by eight wickets to avoid a series whitewash.
A Significant Achievement for Pakistan Cricket
Reaching 100 sixes in T20 Internationals marks a significant personal achievement for Fakhar, who made his T20I debut in 2017.
His aggressive batting style has made him a notable presence in Pakistan’s limited-overs cricket, particularly when quick scoring is required.
Although Pakistan lost the final match, Fakhar’s record remained a major individual highlight of the fixture.
The milestone adds his name to Pakistan cricket’s T20I record books and underlines his contribution to the team’s batting in the shortest international format.
