Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk A powerful explosion in the Ghareebabad neighbourhood of Sharaqpur destroyed two houses and left multiple people trapped under rubble, officials said. One person was confirmed dead, while rescue teams worked to recover the injured.
Police stated that the blast occurred while material for fire-related preparations was being made inside the house, leading to an accidental explosion. The houses collapsed completely, burying residents under debris.
Emergency responders, including Edhi Foundation volunteers and ambulances, reached the site immediately and launched rescue operations. Authorities later reported that the area had been cleared and relief efforts completed.
According to initial findings, two families—identified as those of Amir and Naser—were residing in separate portions of the house. Officials said firecrackers or combustible materials stored in Amir’s section ignited, triggering the explosion.
Amir, son of Liaqat, died in the incident, while four individuals from the adjoining portion, including Naser, sustained injuries. They were shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
Police confirmed that the site had been secured and an investigation into the circumstances of the blast was underway.
