WASHINGTON – Web Desk: Former Trump administration official and ex-head of the National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran, stating that if Washington wants the deal to succeed, it must immediately halt military and intelligence support to Israel.
In a statement on X, Kent claimed that Israel has made multiple attempts to sabotage the potential agreement with Iran, and such efforts could continue in the future if the US does not take practical action. He also urged the US to consider quietly withdrawing personnel from military installations and bases in Gulf countries, as these bases could be vulnerable to potential Iranian retaliation.
Kent said that if US military targets are beyond Iran’s reach, it would become more difficult for Iranian hardliners to push the US back into war. He added that Washington should eliminate all factors that could entangle the US in another conflict with Iran or Israel. Kent had resigned from the Trump administration over disagreements on the Iran war.
