Washington / Brussels / Paris – Web Desk : The United States’ temporary easing of sanctions on Russian oil has drawn sharp criticism from European leaders, who warn that the move could provide Russia with additional financial resources for the ongoing conflict.
According to international news agencies, leaders from France, Germany, and Ukraine opposed the U.S. decision, stressing that maintaining pressure on Russia is crucial.
German Chancellor criticized the move, stating that the U.S. lacks a clear strategy to end the Gulf conflict, which has severely impacted energy prices in Germany.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also condemned the decision, highlighting the inconsistency in U.S. policy. He said that for months, the U.S. pressured India to avoid buying Russian oil, but after just two weeks of conflict, the U.S. is now seeking the same oil from the global market. He added that Europe had been naïve to expect unwavering U.S. support against Russia, calling the situation “regrettable.”
The temporary lift in sanctions has led to significant changes in global oil supply dynamics, raising concerns over energy prices and geopolitical stability.
