Quetta, Pakistan – Web Desk: Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a vehicle carrying a district and sessions judge on the national highway in Balochistan’s Mastung on Thursday, killing the judge and his security guard while injuring two others, including an additional sessions judge .
Details of the Attack
District and Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar was traveling from Quetta to Mastung when unidentified assailants targeted his vehicle. Judge Kakar and his security guard were killed at the scene, while Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari and another person sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital .
Security Forces Respond
Security forces and law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area, launched a search operation, and established checkpoints to apprehend the attackers .
Condemnation and Vows of Justice
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the attack, describing it as “an attack on the state itself” and vowing to bring perpetrators and facilitators to justice “at all costs.” He said “the blood of the guardians of the law will not go in vain” and that there would be “no safe haven for terrorists in Balochistan.”
Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said the attack on “guardians of the law” was an attempt to challenge the writ of the state, directing authorities to arrest those responsible immediately .
Bar Council Boycott
The Balochistan Bar Council condemned the attack as an assault on the judiciary and announced a two-day boycott of court proceedings and three days of mourning, demanding enhanced security for judges and lawyers .
