LAHORE: In a deadly night in Lahore, three separate police encounters by the Counter Crime Department (CCD) left six suspects dead, while three others managed to escape.According to the details, the shootouts occurred in three different areas of Lahore city: Chuhang, Jubilee Town, and near Do Moriya Pul.
Three killed in Jubliee Town encounter
According to CCD officials, a team held a raid based on an intelligence tip at a hideout in Jubilee Town, located in the Chuhang area, to arrest wanted criminals.
Upon arrival, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the police party. During the intense exchange of gunfire, three suspects, identified as Irshad, Ibrahim, and Farooq, were killed.
They were fatally struck by bullets fired by their own accomplices. One suspect managed to escape from CCD custody during the chaos. A search operation is currently underway in the area to track down the fleeing criminal.
Ilyas Mansha dacoit killed at Chuhang:
In a second incident, suspect Ilyas Mansha, who had been taken to Chuhang Police Station for recovery purposes, came under attack from his armed associates.
The attackers ambushed the CCD team, and in the ensuing shootout, Ilyas Mansha was critically injured. He succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
The attackers managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Fortunately, no CCD personnel were harmed during the incident.
Do Moriya Pul encounter:
In a third police operation near Do Moriya Pul, two more suspects, identified as Aslam and Jameel, were killed in a gun battle while in custody.
According to CCD sources, the suspects were taken to an area called Lohe Wali Puli for recovery purposes when the shootout broke out. Another accomplice of the deceased suspect managed to flee from police custody during the encounter.
The bodies have been moved to the city mortuary, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect who escaped.
Car thief killed in Gujranwala encounter
In a separate incident in Gujranwala, a notorious thief named Asif Tufail, involved in 181 criminal cases, was killed in an alleged police encounter with the CCD team.
During a roadblock, the motorcycle-riding suspect ignored police signals to stop and opened fire on the officers. In the resulting gunfight, the wanted criminal was killed.
