Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: The Sindh High Court has expressed strong displeasure over the non-implementation of court orders regarding the regularization of contract employees of TMC Lyari, and has summoned the Secretary Local Government for an explanation.
During the hearing before a constitutional bench, the court questioned why its earlier directives to regularize municipal employees had not been followed.
TMC Karachi’s lawyer, Jahangir Kalhoro, informed the court that despite clear orders, the Secretary Local Government not only failed to regularize the employees but also allegedly suspended their salaries. He added that contracts of several workers were terminated after the court’s ruling, despite verification of all staff being completed and submitted to the department.
According to the petitioner, around 200 employees of the Town Education Department have been working on a contractual basis since 2012.
The court has now summoned the Secretary Local Government and sought a detailed response over the alleged non-compliance with judicial orders.
