Clashes Erupt Between US Forces and IRGC in Strait of Hormuz

Date:

TEHRAN – Web Desk: Iranian media have reported direct clashes between US forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) near the Strait of Hormuz, as tensions escalate dramatically in the region.

Explosions were heard in Fars province, western Tehran, Bandar Abbas, Minab, Serik, Qeshm, Hengam, and Kish Island, according to Iranian media reports. Explosions were also reported around the port of Gorgan, prompting security forces to mobilize.

Meanwhile, US Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed new military strikes on multiple targets in Iran, stating that the operations are being carried out to protect US interests in the region and in response to alleged Iranian aggressive activities. Recent strikes have targeted air defense systems, radar stations, and other sensitive installations in southern Iran, according to US media reports.

Iranian news agencies claim that tensions near the Strait of Hormuz have escalated into open military confrontation following US strikes, with Iranian armed forces attempting to target US naval vessels with missiles and drones — though these claims could not be independently verified. US President Donald Trump and the US Defense Secretary had previously indicated the possibility of large-scale operations against Iran.
