Beijing, China – Web Desk: China and Russia have expressed serious concern over the growing threat of terrorism and extremism emerging from Afghan territory, warning that regional and global security could be at risk.
According to a joint statement issued after a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, both countries described terrorism originating from Afghanistan as a major threat to neighboring states and international peace.
The statement stressed that extremist groups operating from Afghan soil pose increasing dangers to regional stability, calling for urgent measures to establish sustainable peace, political stability, and security in Afghanistan.
China and Russia also urged the international community to strengthen cooperation aimed at preventing Afghan territory from being used against neighboring countries.
The report stated that concerns continue to grow over the activities of militant organizations inside Afghanistan under the Taliban administration, with analysts warning that support or tolerance for extremist groups could destabilize the wider region.
Security experts say the joint China-Russia statement aligns closely with Pakistan’s long-standing position that Afghan territory should not be used for cross-border terrorism or attacks against neighboring countries.
The latest remarks come amid increasing regional security concerns involving militancy, border stability, and counterterrorism cooperation across South and Central Asia.
