Dhaka, Bangladesh – Web Desk: Bangladesh resumed the second day of the Dhaka Test against Pakistan at 301 for 4, putting the hosts in a strong position after a dominant opening day performance.
Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bowl first, but the decision appeared to backfire as Bangladesh’s batters controlled proceedings throughout most of the first day’s play.
Only four wickets fell during 85 overs on day one, with Pakistan’s bowling attack struggling to make regular breakthroughs on a batting-friendly surface.
Fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Abbas and Hasan Ali, along with spinner Nauman Ali, claimed one wicket each.
For Bangladesh, Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 8 runs, while Shadman Islam added 13. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led the innings with a composed 101, while Mominul Haque contributed 91 runs.
At the start of day two, veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim resumed unbeaten on 48, alongside Litton Das on 8.
Speaking after stumps on day one, Mohammad Abbas expressed confidence that Pakistan could strike early on the second morning and wrap up Bangladesh’s innings quickly.
