Manama, Bahrain – Web Desk: Bahrain has claimed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed missiles and other aerial projectiles launched from Iran, as tensions continue to simmer across the Gulf region.
Royal Media Adviser Nabil Al-Ahmar announced on social media platform X that air raid sirens had sounded for the fourth time since Tuesday morning. He stated that Bahrain’s air defense forces engaged the incoming Iranian projectiles mid-air and successfully neutralized them.
According to Bahraini officials, security agencies remained fully mobilized throughout the defensive operation, while civilians were urged to adhere to safety guidelines and follow official instructions.
There has been no formal response from Iran regarding Bahrain’s claims, and the incident could not be independently verified from alternative sources. The development comes amid heightened military tensions between the United States and Iran, which have further complicated the security landscape in the strategically vital Gulf region.
Bahrain hosts the headquarters of the United States Navy’s Fifth Fleet, a key American military presence that places the kingdom at the heart of regional geopolitical rivalries. The basing of U.S. naval assets in Bahrain has drawn global attention to the country’s role in any potential escalation.
Defense analysts suggest that if tensions between Tehran and Manama persist, Gulf nations may need to place their air defense systems on heightened alert. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation are also expected to intensify in the coming days.
