ATC to Hear Sheikh Rashid’s Umrah Travel Request

Date:

Web Desk, Rawalpindi – The Anti-Terrorism Court has accepted for hearing a petition filed by former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed seeking permission to travel abroad for Umrah during the upcoming month of Ramadan.

The court issued notices to the state prosecutor and directed both sides to present arguments on Tuesday, February 24. Although the government lawyer requested additional time to prepare submissions, the court instructed that arguments be presented at the next hearing.

During proceedings, Sheikh Rashid told the court that he performs Umrah every year in Ramadan and requested that he be granted permission to undertake the pilgrimage this year as well. The former minister was present in the courtroom during the hearing.

The case will now proceed with formal arguments before the court decides whether to grant travel clearance.
