He made the remarks during a visit to Quetta Garrison, where he met commanders and commanding officers of field formations and reviewed the security situation in the province.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Munir was briefed on the prevailing security environment, operational preparedness and measures being taken to maintain peace and stability across Balochistan.
Asim Munir reviews Balochistan security situation
Upon arrival in Quetta, the field marshal was received by the Commander Quetta Corps.
During his visit, he interacted with commanders and commanding officers of field formations and received a comprehensive briefing on the province’s security environment.
The briefing covered operational preparedness as well as ongoing measures aimed at maintaining peace and stability across Balochistan, according to ISPR.
Focus on institutional coordination
The military leadership also reviewed matters related to coordination among state institutions and support for the province’s socio-economic development.
Munir stressed the importance of continued coordination between law enforcement agencies and other state institutions to consolidate peace and maintain an environment conducive to sustained economic activity and development.
The ISPR statement said the emphasis on coordination was linked to efforts to create conditions that can support development initiatives and economic opportunities in the province.
Stable environment needed for development
Munir said a stable and secure environment would continue to facilitate development initiatives, economic opportunities and improved prospects for the people of Balochistan.
His remarks placed security and socio-economic development alongside each other, with the military leadership highlighting stability as a condition for sustained economic activity.
Radio Pakistan and APP reported the same key points from the official statement.
Field marshal praises troops
During the visit, Munir praised the professionalism, operational readiness and commitment displayed by troops serving in Balochistan.
He also stressed the importance of continued coordination among security and law-enforcement institutions in maintaining peace in the province.
The military did not provide specific operational figures or details of individual security incidents in the statement.
Tribute to martyrs
Field Marshal Asim Munir also paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs.
He commended officers and troops for their steadfastness and dedication in carrying out their duties.
The visit comes as Pakistan observes Defence and Martyrs’ Day on September 6, a day dedicated to remembering the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and other personnel who have served the country.
Balochistan security remains a major focus
Balochistan has remained a major focus of Pakistan’s security operations amid continuing militant violence in parts of the province.
Dawn reported that the Quetta visit came amid a recent increase in terrorist activity, including attacks in Pishin and Chagai and counterterrorism operations in Mastung, Kalat and Sibi. Those developments have been reported by authorities and media, while individual operational claims should be treated according to the source making them.
The latest visit therefore combined a review of operational preparedness with discussion of institutional coordination and development support.
Munir’s message reiterated the government’s and military’s stated position that improved security should help create conditions for economic activity, development and greater opportunities for people across Balochistan.
