MIDDLE EAST – Web Desk: A new US aircraft carrier strike group has arrived in the Middle East, further strengthening Washington’s naval presence in the region.
According to Arab media reports, the USS George H.W. Bush has reached the region, bringing the total number of major US warships operating in the area to three.
The US military said the carrier was previously operating in the Indian Ocean on 23 April and has now entered the operational command area of US Central Command.
The deployment places the vessel under the authority of United States Central Command, which oversees American military activity across the Middle East.
CENTCOM also shared images on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), showing multiple fighter jets stationed on the carrier’s deck, highlighting its combat readiness.
Analysts say the increase in US naval presence reflects growing regional tensions and heightened concerns over maritime security and strategic shipping routes.
They add that the deployment is aimed at safeguarding key sea lanes and protecting US and allied interests amid ongoing instability in the region.
