Alima Khan Denies Plans for February 8 Protest, Calls PTI Case Politically Motivated

Islamabad – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Alima Khan stated she is not revealing the February 8 plan but confirmed no one will march to D-Chowk. Speaking outside Rawalpindi’s Anti-Terrorism Court with her lawyer Faisal Malik, Khan criticized the slow pace of cases against her and PTI founder, calling them politically motivated.

She highlighted alleged judicial bias, citing removal of 50-60 judges who acted independently, and questioned why Islamabad High Court has delayed hearing PTI founder’s case or signing his power of attorney. Khan reaffirmed that peaceful protest cannot be suppressed by force and criticized government actions ahead of mass rallies, citing public frustration and demands for swift justice.

During the 26 November protest case hearing, cross-examination of the Additional Superintendent of Adiala Jail revealed Khan was never part of the investigation, reinforcing her claim that the case is politically driven. The court adjourned proceedings, summoning 17 prosecution witnesses for future examination.

Khan’s lawyer emphasized that PTI’s protests were peaceful and that jail officials maintained records transparently, with no unlawful or unconstitutional activity. The next hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
