(Web Desk) – World-renowned umpire Aleem Dar has resigned from the selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board following Pakistan’s early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup, sources confirmed.
Insiders said Dar stepped down due to differences over team selection and the influence of head coach Aaqib Javed within the committee. Reports suggest Dar opposed the inclusion of Babar Azam, Shadab Khan and Usman Khan in the World Cup squad, arguing that performance-based selection criteria were not fully applied.
Dar also reportedly recommended that wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan be promoted to the number six batting position during the tournament. He maintained that if players such as Babar Azam could return to the side despite inconsistent form, Rizwan deserved similar opportunities.
Sources claimed that Dar became frustrated with the dynamics of the selection committee and what he perceived as limited influence over strategic decisions. The resignation highlights ongoing debates within Pakistan cricket regarding team composition and long-term planning.
The PCB has not yet issued an official statement regarding Dar’s departure or plans to fill the vacancy.
