(Web Desk) – Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has described the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as a “religious crime” that will carry serious consequences, amid escalating regional tensions.
In a statement, Araghchi said Iran does not seek war with neighbouring countries and urged regional governments to pressure the United States over its military actions. He argued that continued hostilities risk destabilising the Middle East and harming prospects for diplomacy.
The foreign minister accused Washington of undermining negotiations by launching strikes on Iran while diplomatic efforts were underway. He also shared images of graves of 160 female students killed in previous incidents, stating that they represented what he called the “rescue” promised to the Iranian people by US officials.
Separately, Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, reiterated that Tehran is preparing for a prolonged conflict and will defend its 6,000-year-old civilisation. Larijani warned that any attempt to impose regime change would meet strong resistance.
The comments reflect deepening tensions between Iran and Western powers and growing concerns about the potential for broader regional conflict. Governments across the Middle East have been urged to intensify diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
